Royal Temples Heritage Walk, Pune | Explore Pune's Maratha Legacy
Discover Pune's royal and spiritual heritage on this immersive walk through some of the city's most iconic temples. Pune rose to prominence when Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj established Lal Mahal as his residence and later became the seat of the Maratha Empire under Peshwa Bajirao. As the city flourished, the Peshwas, generals, and administrators commissioned magnificent temples dedicated to the deities they revered, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of faith and architecture.
Led by Pune Heritage Walks (PHW), this guided experience takes participants through historic lanes and sacred spaces, uncovering stories of devotion, power, and culture from Pune's royal past. Curated by founder and walk leader Randhir Jaya Naidu, the walk offers a unique opportunity to explore the city's Maratha-era architecture and gain deeper insight into its cultural roots.
Participants can identify the walk leader by the red umbrella at the meeting point.
